Good evening, Kibitzers!
This week, we learned about John Eastman’s considered opinion that he should “be on the pardon list, if that is still in the works.” Entertaining? Yes!
But when I want to read news with unexpurgated snark as thick as cream cheese on a New York water bagel, I turn to Wonkette, and they did not disappoint. Liz Dye is a terrific legal journalist, and her Top Ten WTF Moments from Day 3 of the January 6 Hearings satisfied my need to see the numerous villains involved reduced to rhetorical sawdust.
Item #1 in the countdown was The First Rule Of Pardon List Club Is You Don't Talk About Pardon List Club, and it was there I learned that Twitter and other social media had erupted in "I've decided that I should be on the pardon list, if that is still in the works" memes. (Obviously, I should have guessed that. Not being on Twitter makes me slow on the uptake.)
Of course I’m bringing you the best array of these memes I can jam in here, and it’s quite the collection of bad guys and gals. In deference to people who have trouble seeing tweets, I’m embedding screen shots this time instead; the links in the accompanying Twitter handles are to that specific tweet, not the account in general. Since I myself am pop-culture-challenged, I’ve tried to balance identifying the images with not insulting your intelligence. I’m naming the character and the work; if I name the actor, it’s in addition.
I was assisted in collecting these by this Mediaite story and this Yahoo News story — they do still have a few I didn’t include here, most notably the gifs. I also have some I stalked in the wild. There’s not much to smile about, hearing of the doings of these Nazi bozos, so when there is something, dammit, we should smile!
@pbump is looking for takers!
